Refinancing your mortgage or trying to avoid foreclosure in any way can be a scary experience, especially when your family’s livelihood is at stake. In order for you to keep from being sucked in to a form of fraudulent activity that will steal your home you must be diligent in your research into ways to save your home from foreclosure. One such way that you can do this is by checking the form that you are signing in all areas to prevent the fine print from duping you.
Some states, namely Florida, have instituted some laws to make sure this is done in all foreclosure rescue transactions: “…2. A foreclosure-rescue transaction agreement must contain, above the signature line, a statement in at least 12-point uppercase type that substantially complies with the following: I UNDERSTAND THAT UNDER THIS AGREEMENT I AM SELLING MY HOME TO THE OTHER UNDERSIGNED PARTY…”
While your state may not require that the statement be in uppercase 12-point font it doesn’t meant that it shouldn’t be there. Make sure that you check all pages of the contract that you sign to make sure you aren’t giving away your home unknowingly. Just a little preparation and a lot of reading will save your home and your finances.
